Tip 5: Don’t have dinner right before bed

Your child will struggle to sleep if they have had dinner within an hour before bed time. Does your child usually go to sleep at 19:00? Then you should try to finish dinner by 18:00. Sometimes that is not feasible, so check what works best for you. The most important thing is that your child gets enough sleep.

Now that Teun and Pien are still young and they go to bed early, I usually have dinner with them at 17:30. My husband doesn’t come home from work until 18:30. If I were to wait until then, the children would be all over the place and they would need to go to bed on a full stomach. An early dinner therefore works best for us.
